MEWP’s make up a specific group of specialized machines that enable people to work at heights. It is used to move persons to working positions where they are carrying out work from the work platform, with the intention that persons are getting on and off the work platform only at access positions at ground level or on the chassis. It consists at a minimum of a work platform with controls, an extending structure and a chassis.
Operators who are not adequately trained in MEWP operations are at great risk of injury or death. Training is a vital issue and DMR 18(11) prohibits the operation of MEWP’s by untrained persons.
This course will assist the learner operator in becoming a fully qualified MEWP operator who has the knowledge, skills and experience to operate a Mobile Elevated Work Platform in a safe and professional manner. This will allow certified operator by adding value to any organization.
Mobile Elevating Work Platform will include but are not limited to Cherry Picker, Scissor Lift, Boom Lift, Access Platform, Man Lift, Personnel Lift, Aerial Work Platform.
